Series: Enduring Ministry: The Pastor and the Church - Sermons from 2 Timothy
Passage: 2 Timothy 2:1-13
Speaker: Brad Thomas
Pastor Brad continues in our new series in 2 Timothy by teaching from the first part of chapter 2. Paul uses the metaphors of a soldier, an athlete, and a farmer to urge Timothy to remain steadfast in his faith, endure hardship, and diligently spread the Gospel, emphasizing the importance of commitment and perseverance in the Christian life by comparing faithfulness to the dedication required in these vocations; essentially reminding him to stay focused on his calling and not get distracted by worldly concerns, just as a soldier stays focused on their duty in battle, an athlete follows the rules of competition, and a farmer works hard to reap a harvest.
