As Pastor Brad shares from the book of Ruth, he reminds us that we should consider not only the content of what God teaches but the people God selects to illustrate and communicate what he is teaching. We may be tempted to think our only role in the situation of something like the global refugee crisis is to give time or money to quickly fix the circumstances of others. Or maybe to simply take the opportunity to remember to be more grateful our lives aren’t as terrible as what others experience. But there’s a wisdom to humility that would seek to listen, to understand, and to learn from the experiences of those who have lived through the kinds of things that we could scarcely imagine in our own contexts.
